Restaurant at Headlam Hall

Headlam, nr Gainford, Darlington, DL2 3HA

Headlam is a picturesque hamlet between Darlington and Barnard Castle, and as you drive through the dwindling country roads the impressive Headlam Hall, housed in a Jacobean mansion, seems to appear from nowhere. The dining facilities at the hotel occupy a white orangery, for a fresh and serene dining experience, a handsome panelled room, that gives a cosy and warm feel, and an attractive Victorian hall done out in a pleasant shade of green. Seasonal pickings define the menu and the well kept gardens at Headlam Hall serve as an excellent supplier for many of the ingredients used in the kitchen. Expect to find starters such as English pea and lettuce risotto, garlic mushrooms and poached Scottish salmon and prawns.

REVIEWS OF Restaurant at Headlam Hall

RuthH (7 August 2007)

I ate at the restaurant as part of a one night DBB stay. The food was fantastic! The menu states where the produce comes from, and most of it is sourced locally, which is nice to see. I had breast of wood pigeon, followed by a complementary broccoli and toasted almond soup, then salmon. I couldn't manage a pudding unfortunately and my husband's main course fillet of beef was also tasty. The staff were very friendly, and professional. I would definitely return to the hotel, only to go the restaurant.
