A wonderfully Gothic Victorian mansion surrounded by wooded parkland high in prime Devon countryside between the Mole and Taw Valleys. A civilized place too with a golf course, swimming pool and croquet lawn. Nothing fancy about the food, just good honest favourites served in an unpretentious dining room with minimal fuss. House wine at £12.
