Restaurant at Little Barwick House

Barwick Village, Barwick, Yeovil, BA22 9TD

Within this attractive Georgian dower house resides a haven of quality and easy good taste. Some of the produce is raised in-house and the overall effect is one of wholesomeness and quiet comfort. The kitchen is in the capable hands of Tim Ford, co-owner with his wife Emma. The trio of salmon smoked, gravadlax and tartare with Sevruga caviar and a lemon dressing appealed and the roasted saddle of venison with beetroot puree and port sauce was perfectly timed. Other choices included roasted Cornish sea bass with baby fennel and girolles and pink roasted squab pigeon with braised lentils. To finish, it was difficult to resist the iced apple and Calvados parfait with a spiced apple compote or the Apricot Delice with a White Peach Sorbet; the Dark Chocolate Cheesecake with Marinated Oranges and the Hot Passion Fruit Souffle with Passion Fruit Sorbet were equally tempting.

REVIEWS OF Restaurant at Little Barwick House

Terence Parsons (20 May 2007)

I can hardly believe that I seem to be the first to write a review here of this admirable restaurant which has enjoyed a high reputation in this area for decades (see Good Food Guide). Ingredients are of the finest, care and timing in the kitchen impeccable, and service informal and as pleasing as one could wish. Presentation is stylish and ambience pleasant.
