I have been going to the Loch Green Hotel now for several years. My daughter got married here in 2009 and I can only say - magnificent. The food without a doubt is the finest I have ever tasted. I have never had a bad experience and the staff are always attentive and extremely friendly. To sum up I can’t think of a better place to eat out and will continue to go as often as possible.

A building in lovely grounds! You think yes it looks nice and then you walk in to the reception, you are guided to a large lounge where attentive staff guide you to a comfortable seat and offer you drinks and the menu. Nice you may add - but not unique. Then they bring you a little taster plate - lovely little tastes to give a hint of what's to come. Don’t pass up on the little tiny haggis - they are lovely. After time to check over the menu your order is taken.

You are then, at your leisure guided through to the dining rooms. Large light and well spaced tables beautifully presented. The starters are waiting, and wine is ordered. You are presented with beautiful plates of food that you feel guilty about destroying, but the taste is worth the guilt. Again after a reasonable period of time come the main courses. Although the presentation is still beautiful, the quantity of food is satisfying. We have all seen the two carrot strips and a bit of string bean offered as your vegetable selection - then wondered why it costs £20) Not here, a satisfying meal, well presented and beautifully cooked. The staff are discreet but attentive, no hovering annoyingly so that conversation stops, but equally no wondering where everyone has gone if you need water, more wine etc.

Now the guilt, you know you are satisfied, but while you have been enjoying your main course you have seen beautiful pieces of artwork in chocolate and sugar pass your table. The temptation is too much you give in. Surprise, you are not disappointed not only beautiful but it tastes heavenly. Even the goody at our table who normally nibbles at the grapes on a cheese plate could not resist and was glad she had given in to temptation.

Well here you think it is all over - all but the coffee. Again the discreet staff ask if you would like to take your tea and coffee back in the lounge. So you join the rest of the satisfied patrons now not quite so upright in the comfortable chairs and sofas for tea or coffee, beautifully presented with homemade fudge and sweets to finish. Five star, but not five star prices. I guess you could say I liked it. Basically just try to stop me going back. Any occasion or excuse our family have returned. Every time the same service and quality. Even the cookery courses and lunches are to be highly recommended. Now I just need a good excuse to stay over!
