Think of the family run Low Wood Hall in the picturesque hamlet of Nether Wasdale in the heart of the Wasdale Valley and imagine peaceful surroundings, great food and cosy bedrooms, good enough to encourage you to paint your heart out. Intelligently they have made painting courses available!

Start your day with a hearty breakfast, get lunch packed and head out to explore what's around, from gentle lowland walks to England's highest mountain, Scafell Pike and deepest lake, lonely Wastwater.

Visit the candlelit Conservatory Restaurant in the evening and choose from a menu that includes simply created, modern British dishes. The menu changes daily depending on what's in season or inspired by fresh produce from local suppliers.

Complement the food with wine or linger on after dinner with one of the classic malt whiskies.

The hotel is recommended in both the AA and Michelin guides.
