Restaurant at Ockenden Manor

Yet another of those dreamy 16th century Sussex manor houses which has fallen into caring hands. Now enjoyed by an ever wider public, partly for its own distinction and very much for the innovative and brilliantly executed food which constantly delights.

The wood panelled restaurant with ornately painted ceiling and stained glass windows is intimate and in the winter months a real log fire provides a cosy atmosphere. There are various fixed price menus, including a two-course lunch during the week which represents excellent value, and vegetarians are always catered for. The wine list maintains the same confident professional approach with about ten house wines from £18.50.

Typical dishes on offer might include honey roasted quail with boudin blanc ravioli and mushroom consommé, with main courses of noisettes of monkfish with parma ham, tomato and basil mayonnaise and warm new potato salad, finishing with warm bitter chocolate tart with almond cream.
