Restaurant at Penbontbren Hotel Description

Another of those beautiful conversions from farm to hotel and restaurant which seem to have become a bit of a feature in Wales as farming adapts. Miles and Jacky Glossop have done a fine job and the eating arrangements have obviously featured highly on their priorities.

The wonderfully flavoured products of the locality are noticeable by their presence, including smoked salmon from the Black Mountains and Pantysgawen goat's cheese, with the emphasis on honest-to-goodness country cooking. Penbontbren is rural Wales at its most compelling.

We had a large family party at Penbontbren, the food was great and we really enjoyed ourselves. My tip is to try the Rhydlewis terrine starter - it is a mix of different smoked fish and my mouth waters just thinking about it.

I recently booked a meal at the hotel’s restaurant and received an impressive welcome. The quality of care and attention to our meal was outstanding. We finished our holiday with a treat and will be returning next year.
