Restaurant at Sopwell House, The Description

The Magnolia Restaurant is extraordinary in that it takes its name from the tree around which it is built. The atmosphere is rich with foliage and matching oriental furniture. Well-noted for homemade breads, the menu is comprehensive in approach. Of the more exotic the tandoori marinated chicken breast with cumin rice pilaf and cucumber mint raita is exceptional. Carte will cost around £35.00, set-price dinner at £24.95 with house wine quite a steep £17.95.

The food was well cooked and tasted good, and the menu was varied. The service was very slow and I expect to have better service for the price.

Had Sunday lunch a here short while ago. Very good service well presented and well cooked food. There might have been a few more vegetables for the main course and the wine seemed generally too pricey. Overall.... a bit too expensive for what you get, but a nice, bright and cheerful atmosphere....with pianist!
