Restaurant at The Bath Priory Hotel Description

The Bath Priory is a sublime country house hotel located a short stroll from the city centre. Newly appointed Executive Head Chef Michael Caines MBE directs the kitchen team, with his highly innovative take on modern European cuisine. Michael is one of the country's most prestigious chefs and has countless accolades under his belt, including the AA 'Chef's Chef of the Year' for 2007. Since taking up his position at the hotel, he has introduced a range of new menus including two eight-course tasters, a grazing and an early-dining bill of fare.

Quality is infused into every dish, and the menu changes with the seasons to ensure only the freshest ingredients are used. Starters include roasted Brixham scallops with veal sweetbreads, pea purée and morel velouté or raviolo of quail with wild mushrooms, tomato confit and light quail jus. Follow with best end of Neston Park lamb with fondant potatoes, aubergine purée, niçoise garnish and a tapenade jus. Round off your gastronomic delight with 'chocolate bar' - praline and milk chocolate mousse on a hazelnut biscuit with nibbed cocoa ice cream.

Your Reviews of Restaurant at The Bath Priory Hotel

Daniel (9 June 2008)

The atmosphere, food and the service all combine to make this a special dining experience. The food is exquisite and individual flavours of the dish are fabulous but when combined together they melt in the mouth. On one visit I remember one of us took the virtual mushrooms dessert, which was not only an artwork to admire but delicious too. We have not had a disappointing dish on our two visits.

DD (7 May 2008)

I loved the setting and the service was faultless all night. They also have an excellent selection of wine. Unfortunately I have never held such anticipation for a meal I was so thoroughly disappointed with. I did not appreciate Chris Horridge's philosophy on healthy dining prior to making my reservation, had I done so I would have gone else where. When you are spending over £100 a head you should know that the chef has your enjoyment of the meal as his number one priority. Flavours varied from bland to unpleasant and it was disappointing to see an obviously talented chef sacrifice his cooking for the sake of, at best, questionable science.
