Restaurant at The Brace of Pheasants
Plush, Piddletrenthide, nr Dorchester, DT2 7RQ
Located in a quiet piece of a quiet county 'The Brace' satisfies the desires of those whose idea of a cosy pub with restaurant in deep English countryside, an old thatchedbuilding with log fires, oak beams and a minimum of formality. In fact it has it all, including an entry in the Michelin Guide. Start with roast mushroom in vine leaves with a shaved fennel salad and grated goat's cheese, or spicy Portland crab cakes with sherry mayonnaise on a mixed leaf salad, followed by grilled spatchcock of poussin with a herb crust, served on an orange and watercress salad, or pan fried pheasant breasts with a caramelised orange and whisky sauce served with Dauphinoise potatoes. Finish with one of their delicious homemade puddings.Located in a quiet piece of a quiet county 'The Brace' satisfies the desires of those whose idea of a cosy pub with restaurant in deep English countryside, an old thatchedbuilding with log fires, oak beams and a minimum of formality. REVIEWS OF Restaurant at The Brace of Pheasants
Amanda (25 August 2010)
We went to the The Brace of Pheasants last night. It was a stunning evening and what a beautiful setting. The pub is small and cosy and the people were extremely friendly with dogs in the bar area. The food was excellent - good menu choice and reasonable prices.
The only thing I would say that the waitress service was on the slower side with plates left on the table for too long! We had a lovely evening.
Joe Jordan (27 September 2008)
We visited for the first time after a recommendation from a friend. The atmosphere was very welcoming with a log fire burning. The starters of vegetable soup and scallops were lovely. The main of smoked chicken and lamb with red current sauce were both delicious and with very friendly staff certainly means we will be visiting again.
