Restaurant at The Bryn Tyrch Hotel Description
The Bryn Tyrch Hotel is situated in the heart of the Snowdonia National Park surrounded by magnificent scenery. Capel Curig is an ideal centre for outdoor pursuits and the area is very popular with walkers and climbers.
The lakes, beaches, castles and other attractions of North Wales are less than 30 miles away. The hotel has 15 double bedrooms, mostly en-suite, and all rooms have a television and hot drinks facilities. The bar and dining areas are open all day for food and drink. From the main bar guests can enjoy the views of Snowdon as they enjoy a drink in the comfortable and friendly atmosphere, while the smaller public bar has a pool table to help while away a long, wet day. In winter a log fire creates a warm and friendlyglow in the bar.
This is very much a place that appeals to climbers, walkers and just plain holiday-makers; it also provides a great skulking venue for those wet Welsh days when only the really hardy types venture into the hills. The lunch and evening menus offer an excellent selection of traditional Wesh fare and ethnic dishes. Local suppliers provide the kitchen with quality ingredients. It is well-known for its appeals to vegetarians, and the chefs pride themselves on offering the best vegan and vegetarian meals in North Wales. The menus are complemented by a very reasonably priced and carefully selected wine list.

I have just spent a weekend walking around Capel Curig and stayed at the Bryn Tyrch. The bar-restaurant has a great atmosphere and was ‘buzzing’ both nights we were there. The menu was extensive with a good veggie selection. Everything we ate was well cooked and enjoyable. Four of us had steaks and they were cooked to perfection and came with a huge mixed salad and crisp, non-greasy chips. The cooked Welsh breakfast was huge and perfect for those planning an arduous days walking. We also found the staff to be professional and friendly.

We were disappointed with our dinner on Sunday. I enjoyed eating there three years ago but I think there has been a decline in the quality of the food. The staff politely refunded our money when we sent the food back, but seemed indifferent to our dissatisfaction with the meal. I ordered homemade fishcakes and chips, and my companion ordered fish and chips. The fish cakes were large, almost burnt on the outside but soggy and congealed in the centre. Somehow the chips were unpleasant. The fried fish gave the impression that it was not fresh. We were disappointed because we had spent the day in the mountains and were hungry.
