Restaurant at The Chequers Inn, The Description
Set in the picturesque village of Maresfield, The Chequers Inn occupies a former coaching tavern with traditional brick façade, dating from the 18th century. The hotel is built around a courtyard and extends into a garden area.
The Restaurant, with its traditional wood beamed ceiling is housed there and serves a range of modern British dishes prepared from local ingredients. The snug bar features an open fire with a pub food menu, while the wood-panelled White Room is furnished with sofas and offers snacks and light meals.

The food at this place is absolutely fantastic, service prompt, considering everything is cooked from fresh, and the atmosphere comfortable and cosy. The pork belly I had was the best I have ever tasted and it was followed by a croissant and cointreau and bread and butter pudding that were manna. My only criticism is the lack of informal dining dressing, but I am told this is to be addressed in the near future with the conversion of some of the private areas to extra dining space.
