Restaurant at The Crown at Whitebrook Description

Romantically located in the Whitebrook valley, a mile from the River Wye, this 18th century former drover's inn offers a warm and cosy welcome to all, particularly those seeking a robust meal with Welsh and French influences running through them. The results of the happy union are warming and satisfying - this is not a place for picky eaters.

Start with the seared herring fillet with pickled beetroot and mustard dressing. Then perhaps the medallions of beef fillet layered with boudin blanc served with a stout sauce. It would be hard to resist the warm chocolate tart with coffee bean ice cream.

The wine list is a real treat and house wines are £10.95 a bottle or £1.95 a glass.

Your Reviews of Restaurant at The Crown at Whitebrook

Sam Wild (24 September 2008)

We dined at The Crown for my grandmother's birthday and stayed the night as well in three of their rooms for the family. The food was exceptional, portion sizes were good and some of the combinations were ingenious but not pretentious, for example the lamb cooked with a stick of licquorice and a black treacle sauce. The members of staff were polite and excellently knowledgable about the food, we couldn't fault them; especially as they were all relatively young. The rooms were nice - nothing that special but better than many places I've stayed before. The bathrooms were beautiful, modern and clean. Overall I would say that the Crown at Whitebrook is one of the best restaurants I have been to in the UK. I would recommend it.

Chris (20 June 2008)

I recently dined at The Crown with my wife and found the whole experience highly enjoyable. The restaurant is in a fabulous setting while the relaxed ambiance and attentiveness of the staff are both to be commended. As for the food, we both thought it was simply excellent and at a level of complexity and sophistication that you would expect of a Michelin starred establishment. All in all, a first rate night out and one we shall be repeating soon.
