Restaurant at The Lamb Hotel

2 Lynn Road, Ely, CB7 4EJ

One of the pleasant tokens of permanence in Ely is the Lamb Hotel, dating from the 14th century, snug with the Cathedral, a refuge for pilgrims and in the days of the 19th century Militia serving as an Officer's Mess. For me one of life's little pleasures is smoked eels and I have never had them done better than here. Follow them with stir-fried pork and oyster cream sauce and enjoy some of the excellently kept cheeses on offer, and you will see that the pilgrims had a point. Off the a la carte menu you can eat well at £20.00, set-price dinner at £16.95. This is not haute cuisine but it is comfortable, well-cooked food served in a homely way in traditional surroundings. House wine at £8.

REVIEWS OF Restaurant at The Lamb Hotel

Mr Creosote (15 March 2009)

This is an awful place with a grubby, uninspiring room. The top side roast beef was overcooked and the alleged berry jus tasted like pre-packaged gravy. My companion had the roast pork, which was very dry. One small portion of overcooked vegetables between us and the roast potatoes were vastly undercooked. To top it all off, everything was almost cold. The service was good, but one out of three is not good enough.
