Restaurant at The Lifeboat Inn

Tucked away about 400 yards from the coast road towards the sea the Lifeboat Inn looks over the marshes towards the dunes and the sea, its windows picking up the clear light that is an essential part of the Breckland coast. Inside is a medley of antiquity with a handsome fireplace from some long-gone Hall here, a old staircase from who knows where, all overlaid with an atmosphere of robust good cheer, good wines and beers at prices that won't bankrupt you, and food which represents an interesting medley of ideas and individual flair. There is little to choose between the excellent bar food and what is served in the restaurant, described with some accuracy by one critic as "anything local that has been, caught, shot, picked or dug". House wine £10.50 and some interesting and unusual choices on the wine list itself.
