A beautifully restored 16th Century building, with original oak beams and superb log fires, The Malt Shovel has successfully retained its charm and character. The bar is created from old church panelling whilst the furniture can be best described as rustic. Adding to the ambiance are the pianos played by fine singers from the opera world.

Being family run, utmost care and attention is given to every detail, as is the case with their cooking. Using the freshest produce available, almost all ingredients are prepared from scratch and the French menu specialises in fresh fish and seafood. Some favourites include, salt and chilli squid with chilli dip, toasted Ribblesdale goats' cheese and pear salad, slow-cooked belly pork and half a crisply roasted Gressingham duck with cherry sauce.

On warm summer evenings, you could perhaps enjoy your fantastic meal or a glass of fine wine, al fresco.
