Restaurant at The Menai
No.5 Chapel Row, Queen Square, Bath, BA1 1HN
The Beaujolais Bistro and Bar has been a culinary icon in Bath for the past thirty years but its present avatar indicates a renaissance of sorts that spans all the elements of this quirky little bistro, right from interior to the actual cooking. The recent refurbishment has brought about a fresh and contemporary appeal to the interior, where customers can enjoy a meal or a drink with friends while the courtyard garden with its stunning simplicity offers the pleasures of al fresco dining. Fresh and seasonal produce go into making the menu, and bistro favourites such as wild mushroom soup with white truffle oil, sea trout on a warm new potato and green bean salad and roast rump of lamb, ratatouille of vegetables and rosemary jus make their presence felt. The Beaujolais Bistro and Bar has been a culinary icon in Bath for the past thirty years but its present avatar indicates a renaissance of sorts that spans all the elements of this quirky little bistro, right from interior to the actual cooking. REVIEWS OF Restaurant at The Menai

Great restaurant! The best French Bistro cuisine I have had in a long time. The service is friendly and has the right balance. It has an extensive wine list with some very good value choices. It has a very comfortable dining room with agreeable ambience. They fully deserve the praise it gets.

My hubby and I were visiting Bath and chose Beaujolais from an internet search. What a memorable evening they gave us! Sparkly raspberry bellinis got us off to a great start whilst we selected from the menu. Then we shared a steak tartare, fresh as anything and the egg yolk, served separately, was really good. My confit of duck on white bean stew with chorizo was succulent and comforting, hubby's lamb rack was pink and pronounced excellent - it kept him happily occupied. The wine descriptions were good, because we're not experts but what we picked complemented our food very nicely. We'd been invited for coffee elsewhere, so we didn't have pudding but the service was how I like it, professional, approachable but not gushing.
