Restaurant at The Norfolk Mead Hotel
Church Loke, Coltishall, NR12 7DN
The Norfolk Mead Hotel is located in Coltishall quite near the edge of the Norfolk Broads and is a very serene spot, perfect for a weekend retreat. This beautiful Georgian country house has an informal atmosphere with a sense of luxury while the underlying peace is a refreshing break from the mindless clutter of everyday life. There's a lovely lake and you can wander around in the mead without a worry, and finally conclude the day with a delightful meal at their restaurant. In fact, you could even make a start there with lightly smoked kippers and haddock and free range eggs for breakfast. Fresh and locally sourced produce feature highly in the menu and can include starters of chicken liver parfait on toasted brioche with pear and sultana chutney followed by chicken breast with herb stuffing wrapped in Parma ham, leeks and crispy potatoes. The Norfolk Mead Hotel is located in Coltishall quite near the edge of the Norfolk Broads and is a very serene spot, perfect for a weekend retreat. REVIEWS OF Restaurant at The Norfolk Mead Hotel
S Clifton (29 August 2008)
This is a charming venue and the owners are very welcoming. We stayed and the hotel is lovely and relaxed, yet the staff are attentive when required. The dining room is formal and the food was a little disappointing. We felt the chef had made the dishes a little over complicated and we were not sure if all the flavours worked together; now having said that the food was well cooked. The dessert was a particular low point, which is unusual. It was hard to choose from the complicated list of over thought puddings. The chocolate dessert, which did arrive, was very dry and not pleasant. Breakfast on the other hand was a completely different matter. It was the best breakfast I have ever had - cooked to perfection and not a drop of grease in sight. All the produce is locally sourced. Fabulous!
