Restaurant at The Pride of the Valley Hotel

Tilford Road, Farnham, Churt, GU10 2LH

This pretty hotel has been around right from the nineteenth century and in later years, was even patronised by the likes of the British Prime Minister, Lloyd George and Formula 1 legend Mike Hawthorn. Today it is the ideal accommodation for those in the vicinity of the village of Churt or Farnham, while its restaurant draws a regular crowd of people who love well prepared food and a good tipple too. The chef takes pride in using local produce, and has developed a strong network of suppliers so that seasonal and fresh ingredients are used in almost every dish. The regularly changing menu might have steamed Shetland mussels tossed with white wine and cream followed by confit of duck leg with broad beans and game gratin.

Desserts such as white chocolate ganache with Kentish raspberries complete the picture. Real ales, beers and wines go well with whatever you order, although the bar also offers lighter dishes.

REVIEWS OF Restaurant at The Pride of the Valley Hotel

Tim Melville-Walker (5 July 2007)

It’s an excellent pub restaurant, though in fact it is a hotel. Recently totally redesigned from the rather disturbing gothic look to a more modern and friendly feel following a change of ownership, they really have done wonders. Friendly, excellent food and not at all fussy - we often pop in just for a drink after huge dog walk, and always end up staying for lunch, despite the mud-splattered attire. Not cheap, but not outrageous, and staff always very friendly – recommended.

Bill Lewis (13 May 2006)

Pricey pub food, a slightly more up-market attempt than most but includes fish and chips and burgers!
