Restaurant at The Red House Description
Once an old coach house, The Red House is today a chic boutique hotel with a smart, spacious and award winning restaurant. Situated in the pretty Leicestershire village of Nether Broughton, it has a relaxing bar, a beautiful courtyard, eight individually designed suites and a marquee, set in beautiful gardens, which are available for private hire and weddings.
It is very close to excellent golf clubs, Ragdale Hall, Crazy Go Karting and great shopping at both Leicester and Nottingham. It is also an ideal venue for a business meeting with its conference room, or for an overnight stay to get away from the bustle of city life.
The restaurant displays an original mix of funky and traditional country design and can seat seventy five people. The warm and welcoming lounge is the perfect place for post dinner drinks around the real log fire. Diners have the option of sitting in the airy restaurant, the less formal lounge or, in pleasant weather, the courtyard outside. Offering predominantly British cuisine, the restaurant uses seasonal, local produce and is the pride of executive chef John Molnar. There are also traditional Sunday lunches and monthly live jazz suppers to liven the atmosphere.

I had come up to see my son for the weekend and having heard great things about The Red House in Nether Broughton, we wanted to try something new. When arriving through the front door we were greeted by the manager and taken to our seats. The restaurant itself had an amazing atmosphere as there wasn't a free table around and there was a live swing singer to top it off. The menu was very interesting having several choices, I had the assiette of seafood for starters, which was elegantly displayed, followed by a local roast rump of lamb with pea mash and a red currant sauce, which also tasted and look delicious. For dessert I had the chef's special of poached lemon pepper pear with homemade ice cream and a tuille box. Overall, the evening was a great success and I am planning an extended family meal there.

Took my partner last Friday for a surprise birthday meal, we were very disappointed having heard great things about this place. There were only five dishes on the menu, two fish, one chicken steak and chips, and bell pepper for vegetarians. The dining area looked tatty, as were the ladies toilets. There was a live vocalist who was good. We had a bottle of red wine but my partner also wanted just one glass of white wine, and most were not available (although listed by the glass on the wine list). What we did have was good but with no other meat choices, it came down to fish for us both. We did not choose a sweet just a coffee and amaretto. The bill was £75 for the two of us. Sorry but there are much better places.
