Restaurant at The Roebuck Inn

There are those who hold that Ludlow's days as a centre of gourmet enjoyment are on the wane, that no longer can you wander into the Merchant House and find the then Lord Chancellor, a noted bon vivant, enjoying a little modest r and r, perhaps to brace himself for dealing with the country's judiciary, are perhaps a touch hasty. You certainly can't stroll into the Merchant House any more, but there is more than a suggestion that this, and other changes, does not signal a fading of Ludlow's status, merely a spreading of its influence in to a wider area, whilst Ludlow remains at the hub.

The little village of Brimfield, also renowned for its fudge, is home to the Roebuck Inn, taken over recently by Olivier and Lyn Bossut, well known for their former association with Ludlow, and whose values they have imported the short distance to this new venture. But let's be clear, this is an entirely different type of operation, a gastro pub that shares the same values and standards cherished by Olivier and Lyn.

The result is that dishes of the sort of quality one would meet in more formal surroundings are to be enjoyed for prices that, frankly, are extremely good value.

The Roebuck can only add to Ludlow's lustre.
