Restaurant at The Royal & Fortescue Hotel Description
Former customers turning up at the door to enquire about the health of their overdraft will be slightly confused to discover that what was formerly the Bank is now a thriving restaurant. As might be expected, your overdraft would have been comfortably housed in spacious and ornate surroundings, and nothing much has changed in that respect. What has changed is that where you might have queued up for your supply of euros there is now housed a very credible brasserie operation with a wide variety of attractive and well-priced dishes. House wine is £9.75.

My wife and I visit Barnstaple occasionally and are happy to know where we can get an interesting, well prepared and presented lunch, from a more than adequate menu, at the R and F. We opted for the excellent carvery more often than not. The restaurant targets a specific clientele, at a realistic price, and it does it well. Service is good from experienced senior staff, and the juniors soon shape up.

I went to the Bank for Christmas dinner and even though you could tell the staff would rather be at home they were very friendly and the food was lovely.
