Restaurant at The Rutland Arms Hotel Description
This splendid stone hotel, rebuilt in 1804, with its handsome porch surmounted by the Rutland coat of arms, hosted, as it were the invention of the Bakewell Pudding. Today nobody is allowed to forget it but there is plenty else besides. The cuisine is very straightforward, relying whenever possible upon locally sourced ingredients. If you are more than usually conscious of the passing of the hours as you eat in the handsome dining room it might have something to do with the wonderful array of clocks on display. Good wine list with house wine at £10.
