Restaurant at The Stanneylands Hotel

I ate at this restaurant as part of a small group and couldn't fault a thing! Upon arrival we were greeted warmly by a receptionist who asked if he could take our coats. This, I thought was a small but nice touch often overlooked by other restaurants. Whilst we waited for our table, canapés and drinks were served to us in the lounge, at no extra cost.

We were served and seated by the restaurant manager who was friendly and very helpful. He was genuinely concerned that we all got exactly what we wanted and took time to explain to a younger member of our party, the details of a particular dish. The starters were a little small, but we all agreed that they were fantastic. I can recommend the scallops from the a la carte menu. Our plates were cleared quickly after we finished and the fantastic main courses followed after a short break. The Manager returned to make sure we were all satisfied.

The restaurant itself is a small room with beautiful traditional wood panelling. There are various integral glass cabinets around the room with antiques and such like. Our night was rounded off in the bar in front of an open coal fire after some delicious dessert. A very pleasant evening with money well spent and I shall be returning
