Restaurant at The Three Horseshoes Description
There is much to praise about Robert Wood's commitment, he uses local organic produce, home cured bacon and hams and makes homemade sausages. Examples of his dishes include pate de campagne (organic pork, local duck, pistachio and cognac terrine), quarter shoulder of local organic lamb with red wine jus, and wild sea bass or pave of fresh halibut enhanced with a fine sauce. Seasonal vegetables from their own garden are hand selected just before service. All the puddings are made 'in house', in fact nothing is bought in except for the ice cream which is supplied be a local Italian family.

I dropped in The Three Horseshoes at Batcombe by chance recently and tried the roast lamb, which was not a big portion, but was beautifully cooked. The roast potatoes were good and vegetables were of excellent range and quality. The other dishes including free range chicken, looked very good, and the dessert - lemon tart, was good too, though the portion was rather small. The raspberry coulis turned out to be nothing more than a garnish, but the coffee was good and wines by the glass were of reasonable range. Overall, it’s certainly worth a second visit.
