A hotel that likes its guests to use the hotel as they would their own home. What! Has the penny dropped at last? Well, that's what it says and very good luck to the owners for recognizing and accepting what many don't. Happily, within this delightful Georgian former farmhouse these sentiments certainly seem to extend to the restaurant where robust dishes with plenty of attention paid to flavours dominate the scene. Many of the ingredients are organic and such dishes as organic pork sausages braised in leeks or chicken, ham and mushroom pie with tarragon cream are prepared with skill and attention to detail. This is a happy place and people vote with their feet - go and see.Modern British

We were actually heading to another place entirely and passed by this restaurant. The other place did not suit us so on our way back we decided to stop there instead. We thought our large Greyhound may be an issue but it was not. We were met by the resident Labrador Guiness and another diner's large puppy. We sat on the pretty and large terrace at the front of the property. We could have eaten at the bar if we had wanted to even with the dog. The menu was short but interesting and the service was exceptional. The food was complemented by locally produced beer and cider. My chicken galette was excellent and the summer pudding, truly lovely. My husband's vegetarian choice was a little dull and unimaginative but reasonably well executed. We enjoyed our evening and plan to return.
