Although the food and ambience is excellent, I really do object to having the 12.5% added on to the bill. They should make this discretionary and make it clear to customers that they've added it on - so that they are not tipping twice.

The Vine House has great food and good prices, a comprehensive wine list and knowledgeable and friendly staff. We have dined on several occasions, and have always been made to feel so welcome. Marcus Springett combines flavours and textures with real style, his terrines are just amazing. The Vine House has an originality and flair, which is lacking in many other places. If you go on a lovely summer evening you can eat in the garden, which has to be one of the most romantic places I have ever eaten. We have eaten at many of the top restaurants and we rate the Vine House up with them. It is a real gem in Northamptonshire.
