Two miles out of Towcester is the delightful little village of Paulerspury where the 300-year-old family-run Vine House serves three-course meals of imagination and flair. The French and Oriental touches serve as a good foil to the more British dishes. Try the breast of pheasant with chestnut bubble and squeak. Everything, including service, is done with style and the desserts are legendary. House wines start at £12.75.

The Vine House has great food and good prices, a comprehensive wine list and knowledgeable and friendly staff. We have dined on several occasions, and have always been made to feel so welcome. Marcus Springett combines flavours and textures with real style, his terrines are just amazing. The Vine House has an originality and flair, which is lacking in many other places. If you go on a lovely summer evening you can eat in the garden, which has to be one of the most romantic places I have ever eaten. We have eaten at many of the top restaurants and we rate the Vine House up with them. It is a real gem in Northamptonshire.

This is a fabulous place to eat. The food was incredible, and extremely well presented. It was great value for money. We were made to feel very welcome by the friendly, helpful members of staff, and I would recommend The Vine House to anyone wishing to have a great meal in a cosy, relaxed atmosphere.
