Tucked away down a country lane in the Looe valley, this intimate country hotel with an internationally acclaimed restaurant is a little gem. Built in 1894 by a tea merchant returned from India, the location could not be more perfect, with breathtaking views across the valley.

The restaurant serves modern British food from locally sourced ingredients. Fruit, vegetables and herbs are all grown on site and used whenever possible by Head Chef Tom Hunter and his team. You can expect a seasonal menu including dishes such as red mullet with saffron risotto and West Country duck breast with spiced red cabbage and grain mustard potato. The restaurant has just been awarded 3 AA Rosettes for the twentieth consecutive year.

The wine list is extensive and comfortably priced. House wines from Chile and France are £13.50 a bottle, or a reasonable £3.25 a glass.
