Restaurant at The Yorke Arms Description
An attractive and historic house with an interesting history. Originally used to make cheese for a neighbouring monastery, it became a shooting-lodge in the 18th century. The menu provides a canvas for talented chef, Frances Atkins - a member for many years of the Master Chefs of Great Britain - to show off her undoubted skills.
Her cuisine might be described a classical repertoire with contemporary ideas, such as roast saddle of rabbit and other traditional favourites; local ingredients are used whenever possible. A good wine list with a house wine at £14.50. Cookery workshops are held in November and February, these are extremely popular, especially for top executives wishing to display their team building skills.

Service was exemplary and the food was wonderful - with one slight exception - the turkey was a little tough. Both the starters and the desserts were absolutely magnificent and the bread with the starter - was bread to die for - the finest bread we have ever tasted. Overall rating - will definitely return in the future - 97%.

My wife & I stayed there for part of a special weekend. Rooms very small and feel a bit 'poky'. Restaurant food and service excellent, wine not so. Sommelier did not know his wines well and 'off-loaded' onto us when asked for a recommendation.
Expensive, too. 1 night for 2 DBB was almost £500, not especially good value for money. We will go back at least once again, but when we do we will stay elsewhere and we will pick our own wines.
