Restaurant at Three Salmons Hotel Description
The Three Salmons Hotel is an 18th century coaching inn; its restaurant is famous in the area for its fresh fish but the menu is large and varied and offers something for everyone. Excellent use is made of the local produce. A parfait of chicken livers with sweet onion relish and warm toasted brioche could be followed by a steamed halibut steak with a mild curry and mango dressing. To finish try some of the excellent local cheeses. A well-mannered wine list does ample justice to the food.

I went to the Three Salmons for a birthday dinner and wasn't disappointed. We had the set menu that was linked to the Times 'Eat out for 10 pounds' offer and the food was excellent. It was worth well over what we had to pay and the service was great. You can choose to sit in the busier and louder bar area or in the restaurant section, where we were - both just as enjoyable. I thoroughly liked it and have booked a table for another meal there.

The Three Salmons Hotel is in a great location right in the centre of the pretty little town of Usk. I stayed there for several days and ate lunch, dinner and bar snacks in the hotel and wasn't disappointed with any. The food well deserves its rosette award. Although busy at lunchtime, the service was excellent and the head waiter - a real character - was most attentive. The lunchtime 2 course special was excellent value. The meal in the evening was quite expensive but superb quality and beautifully presented - I chose a sweet chilli chicken served in a crispy tortilla basket and it was fantastic.
