Restaurant Felix

If you think you've visited all of Europe's hottest entertainment destinations and have not gone to Felix, think again. The club and restaurant situated in the Adlon Palais, just off Unter den Linden in the heart of Berlin Mitte, oozes with loads of style and substance. Set on two levels, the sleek and minimalist ambiance is inspired by New York of the 1940s, with white walls and ceilings, dark chocolate booths and banquettes that have hosted personalities like Robbie Williams, Bryan Adams and Nicholas Cage. Twenty ever changing light columns stretch from the floor to the ceiling, covering Felix in stunning gold for some of the time and hot pink at another.

The luxurious ground floor restaurant welcomes diners to linger on cosy white and brown seats, enjoying good company and sampling dishes from an international menu of popular favourites. Wild salmon tatiki with watermelon, wasabi caviar and ginger, and artichokes à la barigoule with ham and toasted brown bread, for example, have particular appeal leaving the flavour of the main ingredient enhanced rather than hidden.

For starters keep an eye open for fried duck rolls with Chinese barbeque sauce, Japanese mustard and mango, and prawns with rose jelly, cranberry sorbet and lovage, dishes that will make you fall in love with what Felix offers. Among meat main courses crispy shoulder of pork appears with smoked paprika jus, Catalan cabbage and sour paprika, while neck of calf comes to the table glazed with Worcestershire jus, soup vegetables, horseradish and shiso spinach. Fillet of cod is served with an unusual combination of nutmeg crumbs, celery salad and lemon.

To finish, go for jellied buttermilk with citrus fruits, pomegranate sorbet and coconut macaroons or strawberry compote with vanilla sour-cream and coriander-gratinée. Felix stocks a range of wines, champagne and cocktails that match the food and atmosphere wonderfully well.

An excellent sound system and some of Berlin's best DJs will prompt you to join some very stylish clubbers on the dance floor. The venue is transformed into a swanky nightclub after dinner every Thursday and can be rented for private parties from Sunday to Tuesday.
