Restaurant Rococo

202 West George Street, Glasgow, G2 2NR

Rococo is a style of art that emerged in France in the eighteenth century and opinion is divided among critics as to its historical significance in the development of European art. Its namesake today is a restaurant in Glasgow, having recently relocated to West Regent Street, serving Scottish food in a contemporary, elegant and very chic setting. The ambience is warm, inviting and luxurious and yet the food here is not overpowered by the interiors. Sample the starters of roast breast of woodpigeon, candied pears, and bitter chocolate juices to appreciate the international influences on traditional cooking. Move on to the fillet of sea bass with saffron and scallion crushed potatoes, wilted leaves, red pimento essence and finally end with the warm tart of Valrhona chocolate, almond biscuit, prune and armagnac ice cream.

The wine list is impressive with nearly four hundred bins, featuring Burgundy and Bordeaux predominantly, although there are some from the New World too.

REVIEWS OF Restaurant Rococo

Frances C (28 May 2008)

My partner and I have eaten at Rococo Restaurant on several occasions and have thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The food is pricey but would recommend for a special occasion. There is a lovely atmosphere in this restaurant; it is a romantic and cosy setting.

Disappointed from Airdrie (16 April 2008)

I asked for pork cheeks but was given braised steak and on inquiring, I was told that it was pork. The waitress did not offer to change it and it was a disappointing experience.
