The question is whether, after watching the TV series anybody would ever want to go and stay at the Adelphi again. Apparently they do which must prove something though I'm not quite sure what. It is possible to dine in regal splendour in spaces that were meant to soften you up for the forthcoming cruise. Nowadays they tend to be a bit more daunting. The cuisine reflects a changing world too and there are good days and others. Given the range of ethnic splendour and even, if you look carefully, something French or cosmopolitan, I would have to be very tempted to reach for my jacket. But, happily, it takes all sorts and they do have five bars.
