An intimate restaurant where it's not always possible to get a seat unless you book and the decor isn't amazing *but* the food is fantastic. I dined there last night, both my partner and myself thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. I had the chicken pakora to start and my partner had fried fish. The pakora was cut into lovely thin strips unlike the large chunks served elsewhere, it was delicately spiced and came with a comprehensive salad. The fish was cooked beautifully and there was lots of it, again delicately spiced and most definitely well above average. Our main courses had no oil or grease whatsoever and our naan bread was utterly free of grease too, something we both commented on. I had a lamb balti which was delicious and my partner had a prawn royale. The vegetable and lemon rice portions we had were superb, as was the draught Kingfisher lager. Despite two large courses with a popadom and chutney tray appetiser, neither of us felt bloated or like we had eaten too much. We both commented on the clean and fresh cooking and I for one have never enjoyed an Indian meal more. In short, I cannot recommend Rice more highly and it has now become my no.1 choice when dining out for an Indian.
