I was expecting great things there. While the menu looked tempting, what actually appeared on the plate was disappointing. Almost right but not quite there - perhaps the chef was off. The surroundings were lovely and the service was good. I would probably give it another go.

Unfortunately, the brasserie restaurant at this hotel was closed when my husband and I dined here, so the menu had been changed to accommodate this. I was expecting fine dining, but the menu was rather disappointingly more like pub grub. I ordered the whitebait, which was good but nothing special, and my husband had the goat’s cheese which was very nice. The mains were less impressive, though. I had the pie of the day, and my husband ordered the pasta with prawns and roasted peppers. Both were completely tasteless and bland, and we ended up leaving most of it. It was more like the food at a pub, with fine dining prices. I hope that once their second restaurant re-opens that they return to their normal fine dining standards, and I may be tempted to give them a second chance.
