Ristorante Sorrento Description
The Noble family always provide a warm welcome to customers to their Italian restaurant and wine bar in the cellar of Northgate House in Newark-On-Trent. The look is an attractive one, with vaulted ceilings, dimmed lighting and Latino music.
The change of ownership in February 2006 provided an opportunity to devise a new style of menu. Their weekly specials add variety to the list. With leather sofas and an open log fireplace, the bar area allows diners to sit back and relax prior to and following a meal. The dining area is cosy but spacious and can accommodate up to thirty people.

I regularly pop into Ristorante Sorrento and in my opinion this is the friendliest restaurant in town. There's always a good choice of specials, and a large regular menu of pastas and steaks. The duck with red wine and rosemary is a particular favourite of mine. The wine list is not extensive, but they do have a reasonable selection at great prices. The most noteworthy thing about Ristorante Sorrento, other than the food, has to be the venue. It is set in a barrel vaulted cellar just down from Newark's now ruined castle where Castlegate turns into Northgate. There is a huge open fireplace, which creates a really homely atmosphere when lit. The owners regularly have live jazz and blues act on weekends - a purpose for which the venue could have been designed. If you have not been there yet, please check it out. Great food, music and value for money with lovely people - what more could anyone want?
