River Lounge

With a name like River Lounge there are no prizes for guessing the kind of views you could expect, but there's more, step in to any of their three terraces and the vistas of St. Katharine dock and River Thames never seem to leave you - surely the location is unrivalled?

The menu bears the modern brasserie trademark, which changes with the seasons and offers excellent value, so quickly polish off a plate of nibbles such as nachos, mini crab and avocado wraps, and houmous and warm pita bread before trying starters of creamy mussels 'marinieres' and pan-fried chorizo. Lamb kofte, grilled 6 oz sirloin steak or 4 oz pork steak make for some robust main courses, which can be preceded by, perhaps, a pasta course of grilled chicken and roasted courgettes papardelle.

Pannacota with mango compote and red berry bavarois with passion fruit coulis round things off nicely. The concise wine list comes with helpful notes for novice drinkers.
