Roast, The Description
River Aire and Whitehall Road may well have been a realtor's haven with several developments sprucing up the riverside and right in the middle of all this is Roast, which amply reflects its impressive location. The décor is predominately red with half-dome ceiling lamps and wall art filling up the airy dining area.
The menu is quite straightforward with a choice of hot and cold dishes while the cooking remains loyal to local produce, so expect to find crayfish and chilli avocado, poached salmon and rocket, leg of lamb, and sausage and bacon. A relaxed evening meal at Roast may include starters of wood pigeon salad with black pudding, lamb's leaf and blackberry sauce, and venison carpaccio with juniper berries. Main courses are in for some innovation with wild rabbit wrapped in pancetta, stuffed with black pudding and wild mushroom juice.
The Roast also stocks some well-loved wines and beers from further afield.
