Roastit Bubbly Jocks

450 Dumbarton Road, Glasgow, G11 6SE

When I fed the title to our search engine it asked me rather sternly if I meant "roasted". Oh, well I suppose not even Google can cater for every dialect. What it really means is roast turkey, and the recipes that appear at the same time seem to go down well on Thanksgiving Day across the water. Here it is doon the watter, as Glasgow fields yet another new restaurant, a form of up-market café with fresh local, ingredients and some pretty snazzy dishes on offer. Think fish and seafood chowder followed by roast Glenfarg lamb, slow-roast Ramsay's pork and puddings straight from the farmer's market. Link that bright attentive staff, colourful fellow-diners and prices that must make their accounts weep, and you have a bright, cheerful addition to the Glasgow scene, never knowingly undersold in those commodities.

No frills, a licence for wine only, and don't hold great expectations of the décor - it's the food and the people that count.

REVIEWS OF Roastit Bubbly Jocks

Sylvia McCulloch (2 March 2011)

I have eaten at Roastits twice in the past three weeks. First time, the food was lovely but noticed that two tables sent their food back. That has to be a first as far as I am concerned. It also became bitterly cold in the restaurant from 2 PM onwards but that said the waiter did acknowledge this and offered us free coffees on the house to heat us up. Last night was at Roastit's again. Just has a different feel to it. Food is always good but there is a definite change in food presentation and portion sizes, haggis neeps and tatties were fairly small portions, and the way the menus are laid out on two separate sheets of A4 paper. I have always recommended this restaurant to others over the years and will continue to do so, but I do notice change.

Gerry McGowan (21 February 2011)

I had the good fortune to attend here on a Saturday night with my good lady and I was blown away. I almost expected to see a man in a cloak and a tall pointy hat when I sneaked a look in the kitchen as only some kind of wizard could produce such excellence. My wife had the vegetarian option and her only complaint was that she could not do the generous portion justice. I will definitely be visiting soon with friends in tow.
