Room - Leeds Description
A very welcome addition to the Leeds scene is this funky bar restaurant in a style so cool you can almost hear the icicles falling. If anywhere represents how much the leisure approach has shifted in the last two decades this is it. The menu, though modern, does not lose sight of the essentially conservative feel about food in the North and the happy meeting of reality and flair produces such dishes as a Finni haddock rarebit, perhaps followed by pot roast lamb bourguignon or fish, chips and peas with a range of the more expected puddings. The point is that it's all served with great panache and the entire enterprise brings a genuine note of sophistication to folk who have had to put up with the dull and dreary for too long. The wine list does not have the same degree of elegance but it's widespread and well-priced, starting at £10.00, with several by the glass.

Your Reviews of Room - Leeds
Wendy Preston (17 April 2008)
A hidden gem in Leeds, I think this is the most understated restaurant tucked away off Boar Lane in the heart of the city. The relaxed surroundings and attentive staff ensured that diners felt welcome on a drizzly wet evening. The kitchen staff certainly managed to please the surrounding diners with their wonderful twists on modern British cooking. After bypassing starters to leave some room for puddings, I chose the pork and apple dish. The lovely seared taste enriched the flavour of the generous serving of pork. My guest plumped for the beef bourguignon, which was soft and melted in the mouth. With just a little room left we shared desserts, which did not disappoint. Every taste bud was awakened by the variety of tastes and textures, from the rich chocolate mousse to the pear sorbet, not forgetting the homemade marsh mallow we had fight for. A top class latte was nice and hot – perfect to finish a lovely meal.

Really liked it, service good and meals really tasty, I have rebooked for Mothers Day, so I hope it lives up to expectations.
