Rootmaster

Reaching unprecedented levels of quirkiness is the Rootmaster, a vegan restaurant inside a bus in Ely's Yard. Everything about it is different. For instance, the lower deck has a fully fitted open plan kitchen and a takeout hatch for those in a hurry, while upstairs is a 28 cover restaurant, perfect for an unusual dinner party. The bus is no modern ugly contraption, but a 1967 red RML, a sturdy yet retro beauty.

The menu is international, and demonstrating an environment friendly culture which is easy to enjoy, so there could be appetisers of gyoza, wonton wraps filled with peppers, mushrooms, cashews and seasonal vegetables, served with ponzu or sweet chilli dip. For the main course, you could try the char grilled tomato and asparagus tart or maybe flame grilled zucchini served over a summer grain salad with fresh cherry salsa. Finish with the decadent triple chocolate fondant. The Rootmaster provides plenty of drinking options with wines, champagnes, bottled beers and soft drinks.
