Rose Cottage Inn

Rose Cottage Inn is a traditional family run Sussex Country pub, situated at the foot of the South Downs. This 17th Century building with typical beams and low ceilings is a popular getaway destination pub, with fine views over open farmland.

It specialises in genuine, good straightforward cooking without frills using mainly local produce, in fact they have won the AA fresh fish award for the last ten years or more, as it is supplied daily from Eastbourne.

Their beef is provided by a co-operative of local farms, while their lamb comes direct from a farm at nearby Charleston; no wonder that they have won the Evening Argus best country pub award and are featured by them regularly. They have daily specials with regular changes complementing their extensive a la carte menu, with mains such as pan-fried escalope of local free-range pork with cider, bacon and cream sauce with an apple compote or half a crispy roast Gressingham duckling served with a homemade orange and cranberry sauce.

There is a comprehensive list of wines by the glass or bottle, and they also stock local Harveys and Darkstar Brewery Ales, both prizewinning brews.
