Roussillon Description
Modern French is where Roussillon is at, with a strong a la carte menu divided up into choices of 'classics', 'garden', 'sea' and 'land' based dishes. These translate into wonderfully concocted combinations such as, wild sea bass braised with globe artichoke and country farmed bacon, or pan fried fillet of venison with caramelised pumpkin, late comice pear, truffle and celeriac puree.
There's also a choice of regularly changing set menus that try to bring out the spirit of adventure, making this a place for real foodies with a love of innovative cooking. On the first and third Wednesday lunchtime of every month children aged 11 and under are invited to eat a seven-course menu, free, designed to introduce them to top-class cooking. This bold and innovative gesture is designed to 'excite their palate and their eyes'. How to explain their absence from school is entirely down to you.

I had booked a table for a friend's birthday on the evening of tenth November. We arrived on time at 9 pm and were shown to our table. We ordered vodka martinis which were brought around 10 minutes later. By around 9.40 our menu selection had been made but it was not until 10.15 that the first course arrived. Our main course was not served until 10.45. What bothered us more was the quality of what had been served. I had selected lamb and my companion, venison. Both were poor and I will have to say scant in terms of quantity and the lacklustre vegetables that came with it. We did not stay for pudding as we did not want another half hour wait. Although the staff were all extremely courteous the kitchen clearly had major problems. The restaurant was full but that should not excuse the chef and the complete lack of control that ensued in delivery food of high quality - that the restaurant purports to provide and on time. Very poor and I won’t go there again.

Roussillon is my family's favourite London restaurant. Even my impecunious student son went there a deux with his new girlfriend, as he knew it would be a guaranteed sure-fire success. Food was superb, especially the special tasting menus, (where one puts one's dining destiny into the hands of the chef) and there was a superb wine cellar. The service was top drawer French - quiet and assured, non-intrusive yet always on hand to deliver.
