Rowans Restaurant Description
A lively and versatile hotel not a hundred miles from the M4. However as far as the dining is concerned there is a choice of Brasserie or the restaurant, called Rowans. This is an elaborate, possibly even slightly overdone piece of construction where dishes of great skill and imagination are offered to an appreciative clientele. There is a fixed-price menu and a carte. The wine list is of somewhat similar ilk and house wine is at £12.50.

Pretencious, tatty and not that good. Past its sell by date, the numerous repairs to everything show that yet another year has been leached out of tired fixures and fittings.
The service is pretencious, they attempt to add class to the establishment with "silver service". But they don't understand that service is about making people feel comfortable, not tutting because you trust that the wine is not off and do not wish to go through the "silver service" ritual of tasting it.
The chef deserves a better venue as do the goals and aspirations of the establishment. Probably very good a few years ago, I would wait until they have a refit before going again.

* The average cost per head seems a little low I spent about £80 on a meal for 2.
