My wife Jenny and I ate at this cosy Italian restaurant in Wells in May 2010. We decided to sample the menu by choosing three starter dishes by way of our own little degustation. A good tip for first-timers to any restaurant not visited before. Co-incidentally we both chose identical dishes, not that there was an inadequate choice! We started with carpaccio of beef, followed by wild mushroom risotto and to finish open ravioli comprising fresh scallops and a wonderful seafood source. There was plenty to fill two hungry visitors and enough variety not to get bored with too much of one taste, easily done with a main of risotto. We accompanied this with a bottle of Cerquetto from Poggio Montali which was predominantly Sangiovase imported personally by owners Jon and Nick Rossi. The rich luscious wine was a luscious accompaniment to all the dishes. The food was superb in its content, cooking and presentation. The service was excellent and when coupled with the crisp, white linen tableware and cosy ambience it was a great all round experience. Each course was under a tenner. The wine is under twenty and in my humble opinion excellent value at restaurant prices. Don't tell them that though! Buon appetito!

I would not return to this restaurant again. It was almost a chore for the staff to accommodate my wife's request for a vegetarian option and at all times we were made to feel unwelcome by the discourteous and somewhat arrogant attitude of the staff. This is a shame, as the food was not bad. If you want good food and good service then this is not the place to eat.
