Rushmere Restaurant Description

The Rushmere offers a relaxed ambience where customers can indulge themselves in its intimate surroundings. In addition to the garden, there is a large, comfortable bar area, ideal for a drink before moving through to one of the two restaurant rooms. The bar is fully stocked with a comprehensive selection of beers, wines and spirits.

The dining areas have been carefully decorated and furnished to provide elegant surroundings, where customers can enjoy the splendid menu that is put together from seasonal produce by The Rushmere's two Chefs. Seafood is a house speciality with the locally-caught Selsey crab and lobster featuring when available.

There is also an a la carte menu, which has vegetarian dishes, all prepared with equal care and attention to detail. The wide ranging menu is supplemented by daily blackboard specials, and you should be spoilt for choice. There is also a full wine list, and the sommelier is on hand to suggest a suitable accompaniment to your meal.

Dishes could include lemon marinated tiger prawns, skewered and sautéed with Chinese lettuce and fresh ginger or oven baked brie parcel served with a homemade sweet chilli sauce to begin with, then oven roasted breast of chicken on courgette ribbons with a orange and cream thyme sauce, served with new potatoes or pan-fried plaice fillets on a butternut squash mash and a peppercorn sauce.

Your Reviews of Rushmere Restaurant

John Martin (19 November 2007)

Under new owners who are pleasant and welcoming, the venue offers a good choice of occasion that will meet most needs. The food is good quality but the menu is a little dated and slightly expensive for pub/restaurant food. It is close to the sea and well attended giving a good feeling of wellbeing. The catering staff are pleasant and attentive and although the drinks are a little expensive it is a holiday resort and you can pay more at other venues in the town and holiday camp. It is an all rounder and good luck to the new owners.
