Ruskins

I recently visited Ruskins, which was a very nice restaurant, and as there were twenty of us, we had the whole room to ourselves. The food was nice, although I was disappointed being a vegetarian, as there was no vegetarian main course. I was told that I would have to take two starters, but in that too only one was a vegetarian starter. The service was very slow, but the staff were friendly. However, be prepared to take your own drinks.

Ruskins is a fantastic restaurant. The best meal I have eaten in a long time! Just to give you an idea of the menu, there is gorgeous bread and homemade pate on the table when you arrive, we were then served an amuse bouche of celeriac and wild mushroom soup, for my starter I chose scallops wrapped in pancetta and served with courgette and coriander fritters, for my main I had roasted free range duck served with broad beans, artichokes, petit pois and mint. I couldn't manage an entire pudding myself, so I shared my husband's blueberry and almond tart which came with homemade raisin ice cream. Overall an absolutely fabulous meal and at only £25 for 2 courses or £30 for 3 courses including coffees, I thought it to be very reasonable. Especially as you take your own wine. The atmosphere is lovely too, only four tables, so it feels very exclusive!
