Salisbury, The Description
Decorated with rich red walls and comfy banquette style seating the Salisbury Tavern is an inviting place to dine. This is owned by Joel Cadbury, who also has the excellent Admiral Codrington. Their well-respected chef, Micky O'Connor, has created a superb menu here ranging from seabass and tuna steak, to duck and a rare but tender lamb rump. Desserts include ever-popular classics such as bread and butter pudding and sticky toffee pudding that just beg to be sampled, making this a deservedly popular venue.

Your Reviews of Salisbury, The
Philippa (9 January 2006)
The WORST meal out I've ever had! It was utterly shambolic. The air conditioning was freezing - we were under a vent and ended up in coats and gloves!
It took nearly two hours to have our order taken, and even then the waiter had to return no less than 5 times to make changes as they had run out of nearly everything we wanted.
It then took another hour for any of our starters to arrive ... and they kept coming in dribs and drabs for the next 40 mins. Ditto for the main courses, which were not entirely as 'advertised'(e.g. the 'shoulder of lamb' which looked, smelt and tasted like nothing so much as dog-food straight from the tin), tiny and lukewarm.
The apple crumble was a joke - a tiny jar quarter filled with tepid stewed apple, topped with raw muesli! AND they kept forgetting to bring our drinks order.
Frankly it was so unbelievably bad, in the end, after over 4 hours, we were crying with laughter. But the manager’s offer by way of apology was token at best. I wouldn't go back if they were paying me to.
