REVIEWS OF Salumeria Biellese

I've eaten food from the deli - Salumeria Biellese - many times, and it's always fresh, tasty and great – always. Their ‘made on premises’ salami, sausages, soppresatta are the best in NYC and the USA. Look - there's a reason the finest restaurants buy from these guys. We had dinner at Biricchino just before the holidays. The grilled sausage sampler appetizer of five different sausages was terrific. The crab cakes were light, crispy and packed with crabmeat. For dinner, we had the gnocchi piemontese and risotto special - both of which were fabulous. The wine list - while somewhat limited - is well thought out and the offerings were great - both reds and whites. The portions were large and the wait members of staff were helpful, friendly and courteous. They made sure the kids were happy and got the pasta dishes and desserts they wanted. The staff could not have been nicer. For us, Biricchino is the best place for real northern Italian cuisine, in a nice location at great prices.

I brought a friend into their restaurant, Biricchino, prior to a Neal Young concert last month and had the most wonderful experience. It was a little crowded since it was an event night and only 2 blocks from MSG but they got us seated pretty quickly. The server knew the menu and the specials and was very helpful. The wine selection was great and very reasonably priced. We started off with their signature sausage platter appetizer loaded with four different types grilled to perfection. We had a couple of entrées, one from the specials and one from the standard menu and they both were excellent. In fact, the squid ink risotto I had, rocked! Not all pasty like the usual pre-cooked stuff but real al dente risotto. We had to rush out to catch the show so we missed the dessert offerings but if they are anything like our first two courses they must be good. Listen, you are not going to find celebrities sipping $18 drinks at a $4 million bar here. It is an old fashioned authentic Italian restaurant with great food at very reasonable prices; a real rare find in NYC.
