Sandinista
5-5a, Cross Belgrave Street, Leeds, LS2 8JP
Sandinista's opening was inspired by its founder Si Ord's love for music, food and drink and the Central American culture. The décor amply exemplifies this thought process with an undeniable Latin American feel and the appeal almost bordering on shabby, but the idea is to create a place which resonates with their ethos - our home is your home. From the tapas menu jerk chicken with pineapple salsa, Spanish smoked paprika sausage, salt cod fritters with spicy coleslaw and nachos may impress. The express lunch menu takes in breaded jalapeños stuffed with cream cheese, crispy bacon and avocado sandwich, and roast beef with horseradish mayonnaise and leaf salad on a pumpkin seed granary roll.Sandinista's opening was inspired by its founder Si Ord's love for music, food and drink and the Central American culture. The bar's revolutionary theme is motivated by a political movement in Nicaragua from the 80's and with music gigs happening every Wednesday and Sunday; Sandinista is one among the most sought-after places for a night out in Leeds.

REVIEWS OF Sandinista
Gillespie (6 July 2010)
Visited friends in Leeds and they took us to Sandinista last weekend. This is amazing place, never experienced anything like it - we are from rural Lincolnshire. It is lively, exciting, vibrant and full of character and characters with brilliant food. We will return!
Gilbertine (13 October 2009)
There is a choice of delicious vegetarian tapas.
